Daughters of Sophia
and new friends,

On Sunday, April 29th, the Daughters of Sophia performed a mixed program of dances at the Spring Festival at Drew University in Madison, NJ.   The event was held out-of-doors and was open to the public.   We would like to thank all the students who joined us on stage and especially Olivia Dreizen for inviting us to dance..

In the picture to the left we see members of the Insinuous Dance Troupe (left side of stage) and Crow (right side of stage) at the 2006 Lakewood Renfaire.   They are on the Gypsy Theater Caravan Stage, teaching some new friends how to bellydance.   If you look carefully, you'll see that the children are actually doing a pretty good job of following the dancers.

On September 18th, 2005 The Daughters of Sophia performed with the Alborada Spanish Dance Theater in "The Feast of Sarah: A Gypsy Festival".   To the left we see Aislynn, Sarahe, and Eva Lucena (who is the Artistic Director of Alborada).   The photo to the right was taken backstage during the show.   Ashtar and Sarahe (foreground) and our friends from Alborada are preparing to do the folk dance Ketri-Ketri.

To the left is Claire Spring at the 2005 Manchester performance.   She and Ashtar are both studing Flamenco with Eva Lucena.   If you click on this photo and load the larger picture, you may notice a sign in the background over Claire's head.   It states "Catch of the Month."   Coincidence?   You Decide!

Arnand Kularajah sent us this scan of a Trenton Times Newspaper article about the West Windsor Renfaire of 2004.   That's him playing the violin inside the Gypsy Theater Caravan while Sarahe dances onstage.

Here's a picture of Paul Ash with his hurdy-gurdy at Lakewood.   Paul plays with the groups Mince Pye, La Notte Dei Cavalieri, and Karpathos (who played with us at Lakewood).   We cannot praise these musicians enough.   Throw money at them.   Buy their CD's.
